Can You Put Colostrum in Coffee? How to Do It Right

Yes, you can add colostrum to coffee. It's one of the most popular ways to take colostrum powder. There's just one thing to know: don't add it to coffee straight from the machine or kettle. Here's how to do it properly.

Why temperature matters

Colostrum's immunoglobulins are proteins, and proteins change structure when they get too hot. Research on bovine immunoglobulin G (IgG) shows it starts to break down above about 60–65°C (Bogahawaththa et al., 2017).

Freshly brewed coffee is often 80–90°C. So instead of stirring colostrum into a just-poured long black, give it a minute or use one of the methods below.

How to add colostrum to coffee: 4 easy ways

1. Let it cool for a minute

Pour your coffee, let it sit for a minute or two until it's comfortable to sip, then stir in 1 teaspoon of MUUU Colostrum Powder.

2. Mix it into the milk first

Stir the colostrum into a splash of cold milk, then add your coffee. The cold milk brings the temperature down and helps the powder dissolve smoothly without clumps.

3. Make it iced

Iced coffee is the easiest option. Shake colostrum with cold milk and ice, then pour over a shot of espresso.

4. Add it to a latte or flat white

Steamed milk is usually around 60–65°C. Let your latte cool slightly before stirring in the powder.

Tips for a smooth, clump-free coffee

  • Add the powder slowly while stirring.
  • Use a small milk frother to blend it in.
  • Mix with a little cold liquid first to make a paste, then top up.

Does colostrum change the taste of coffee?

Not much. MUUU colostrum has a mild, creamy, milky taste, so it works a lot like a splash of milk. It has no added sugar, flavours or sweeteners.

Not a coffee drinker?

Colostrum powder also stirs into smoothies, yoghurt, overnight oats, warm (not hot) tea or plain water. If you'd rather skip mixing entirely, MUUU Colostrum Capsules give you 1,000mg in 2 capsules with a glass of water.
